What Grade 6 lesson plans are
A Grade 6 lesson plan takes a single lesson from the scheme of work and sets out exactly how to teach it — the specific learning outcomes, the key inquiry question, the learner activities, the resources needed, and how learning will be assessed. It is the document a teacher actually works from in the classroom, and the one a curriculum support officer expects to see.
Grade 6 is the final year of upper primary and the bridge into Junior School. Lesson plans at this stage still cover broad learning areas, but the work is more demanding than Grade 5 and prepares learners for the distinct subjects ahead.

Two packages: Continuous or Termly

What every Grade 6 lesson plan contains
Whichever package and learning area you choose, each Grade 6 lesson plan follows the KICD structure:
- Administrative Details: school, teacher, grade, learning area, date, time and roll.
- Strand and Sub-Strand: the exact part of the curriculum design the lesson comes from.
- Specific Learning Outcomes: what the learner should be able to do by the end of the lesson.
- Key Inquiry Question: the question that frames the lesson and drives learner thinking.
- Learning Resources: materials, references and any digital or real-object resources needed.
- Organisation of Learning: introduction, lesson development step by step, extended activities, and conclusion.
- Reflection: space for the teacher's note on how the lesson actually went.
Core competencies, values and Pertinent and Contemporary Issues are mainstreamed into the activities rather than taught separately, which is what the CBC design intends.
